ESAS Background and Formation History
Although ESAS was founded in 1994, it had no active programs until 2017. In 2017, the Department of Chemistry initiated a get-together of Chemistry graduates at Curzon Hall Lawn in front of the Chemistry Department. More than 700 alumni from home and abroad joined the program.
The announcement for the formation of ESAS was made from that gathering on April 15, 2017. An adhoc committee was formed as follows:
Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar, President
Prof. Dr. M. Emran Quayum, Secretary General
Prof. Dr. Abdus Salam, Treasurer
They were assigned to prepare a draft constitution by the end of December 2017. The adhoc committee co-opted Prof. Dr. Md. Azizur Rahman as Vice President. A draft constitution was prepared, and a convention was organized on 23rd December 2017, marking the official journey of ESAS.
About 400 alumni participated in the convention. The constitution of ESAS was adopted, and a full-fledged Executive Committee (EC) was formed.
